Natalie Imbruglia grew up in Berkeley Vale, a small beach town north of Sydney. She is the 2nd oldest of four sisters. As a child, she loved singing and acting. By the time she was 16 she landed a part in Neighbours. At 19 she left Ramsay Street for the bright lights of London. Soon after she had a recording contract with BMG.

By 1997 the world knew her name. Torn was a hit in every country that had a chart and the Left of Middle album sold over six million. It went round the world like a domino, she says of that song. It had a momentum all its own.

Natalie spent two years touring the world and promoting her debut album and then, not surprisingly, took some time out. At first I think I was suffering from a delayed reaction to all that happened, she admits. It was kind of like being in shock as a result of having had so much success so quickly.

After a period away from the limelight, Natalie returned with a sterling second album White Lilies Island, written in England and America and recorded in London. She worked with a variety of producers and collaborators. Highlights include the singles That Day, Wrong Impression and the
forthcoming single Beauty on the Fire.
